Together we can bring hope

CAHEP works for the undeserved and uninsured populations of Colorado. We take pride in our ability to understand the sensitive health needs of the diverse communities we serve. Here are five reasons why giving to CAHEP can truly makes an impact in your community and across Colorado.

  1. Community outreach through Health Fairs: We organize with community leaders to conduct health fairs at community centers where our target populations congregate, such as churches, mosques, temples, wats, ethnic grocery stores, and ethnic festivals.
  2. Cultural Competence through Navigation Services: We work with a vibrant team of navigators who understand the language and culturally sensitive needs of our non-english speaking populations. We also provide health related educational materials in numerous languages.
  3. CAHEP Clinic: Our clinic is a private and comfortable doctors office, a full service family practice with board certified physicians. We handle all adult, pediatrics, and gynecologic issues on site. We provide affordable quality health care to the underserved populations of Colorado, making sure no one is refused service because of their inability to pay. Our staff is available on-site to help patients apply for all available financial assistance programs.
  4. Women's Health Services: We partner with Susan G. Komen Foundation to provide screenings for breast cancer. We also provide pap smears and other preventative and disease management services.
  5. Mental Health Services: We provide an on-site, full time mental health professional. Not only is this valuable to our immigrant populations-many of whom suffer from the trauma of refugee life-but is also fairly unique as an on-site service to these populations.

Volunteer

Cahep needs help with the following skills:

1. Marketing

2. Information Technology - helping develop the functionality of our open source electronic medical record.

3. Fundraising/Grantwriting: this is fundamental for an organization like Cahep to survive!

4. Medical Providers: Get the rewards of working with a unique patient population which you won't find in such concentration at any other medical home in the state.  You don't need a mission trip to find such rich patient stories!

Primary care and specialists; M.D., D.O., nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. For primary care, we prefer a routine committment, even if it is one consistent half day every week or two. This is because primary care is a longitudinal effort, and this will allow you to establish patient relationships and follow through with care. For specialists, even if you can come one half day a month, it will help us fill the gap left by specialists who do not see our uninsured or CICP patients. Regarding malpractice: if you are a NP or PA we have you covered. However, if you are a physician, it is preferred if your malpractice from your "day job" covers you at Cahep. If it doesn't, then we will buy malpractice for you, but that costs us over $2,000 per year, which will take a certain number of patient visits to recover.
