CAHEP - List of Health Screenings, Risk Assessments and Health and Wellness Education.
January 2009:
The following health screenings were conducted for cardiovascular, diabetes, pulmonary, osteoporosis and cancers. In working with the communities, the CAHEP clinic sees the at-risk cases for follow up care.
1. January 18, HMART grocery store, Aurora CO, 66 adults screened, 102 educated and risk assessment performed.
2. January 31, 2009: Ocean Pacific Supermarket, February 4 2009. Broomfield CO, 47 adults screened and 70 educated
Individuals screened were from Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean and Thai ethnicities.
Total people screened for pulmonary and cardiovascular diseases was 113, including 38% males, 27% older than 60 years of age; 34% between 30 and 45, and 37% between 46 and 60. 39% had total cholesterol greater than 200; 58% had blood pressure greater than 120/80.
February 2009:
1. February 7, 2009: Ocean Pacific Supermarket, February 4 2009. Broomfield CO, 55 adults screened and 75 educated.
2. February 22, 2009: Great Wall Chinese Academy, Highlands Ranch, CO, 51 adults screened, 95 educated.
Individuals screened were from Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean and Asian Indian ethnicities.
Total people screened for pulmonary and cardiovascular diseases was 142 This included 45% males. 24% were older than 60 years of age; 36% were between 30 and 45 years of age, and 38% between 46 and 60. 32% had total cholesterol greater than 200; 44% had blood pressure greater than 120/80.
March 2009:
1. March1, 2009: Vietnamese Buddhist Temple Lakeood. 85 adults were screened and 90 were educated.
2. March 8, 2009: Chinese Baptist Church, Boulder. 45 adults screened, 60 educated.
3. March 29, Vietnamese Catholic Church in Colorado Springs. 35 adults screened, 45 educated.
Individuals screened were from Chinese and Vietnamese ethnicities.
Total people screened for pulmonary and cardiovascular diseases was 106. This included 29% males; 27% were older than 60 years of age; 34% were between 30 and 45, and 37% were between 46 and 60. 36% had total cholesterol greater than 200; 46% had blood pressure greater than 120/80.
April 2009:
The following health screenings were conducted for cardiovascular, diabetes, pulmonary , osteoporosis and cancers. Immunization were not provided at the health fairs, but at the CAHEP clinic.
1. April 4, 2009, Chinese and Japanese Seniors, Tristate Buddhist Temple (near Sakura Square), 125 people were screened and tested.
2. April 5, 2009, Vietnamese Buddhist Temple, Morrison Rd, Denver. 40 people.
3. April 11, 2009, Asian Indian community - Colorado Telugu Association, Grandview High School, Aurora 45 people.
4. April 18, Friends of Nepal, Lake Middle School, Denver 40 people.
5. April 19, Korean Community, Schlessman YMCA , 3901 E. Yale Ave. Denver 150 people.
6. April 19, Cambodian Temple, 3455 W. Ada Place., Denver 45 people.
7. April 25, Islamic Center, 2071 S. Parker 125 people.
8. April 26, Thai Buddhist Temple, Denver 110 people.
Items 5, 7 and 8 were with the 9 Health Fair program. Total people screened for pulmonary and cardiovascular diseases was 680. This included 46% males, 21% were older than 60 years of age; 33% were between 30 and 45, and 34% were between 46 and 60. 29% had total cholesterol greater than 200; 38% had blood pressure greater than 120/80.
May 2009:
1. May 2, 2009, Chinese Church, in partnership with 9 Health Fair, 152 people screened and educated, not all were AAPI and other providers co-supported the screenings.
2. May 9, 2009, Burmese Health Fair at Dhammaparla Monastry, 51 people were screened and educated. Volunteers from the School of Medicine Residency Program were present.
3. May 10, 2009, Vietnamese Buddhist Temple, 55 people screened and educated.
4. May 16, 2009, Korean Festival - West Middle School, Littleton 22 people were screened.
5. May 23, 2009 Burmese community, Xenia Ave Apartments, 83 people screened and educated.
6. May 27 2009, With African and Hispanic populations, Fort Morgan, working with SIRFI program for immigrant and migrant workers; 45 peoplke were screened/tested.
7. May 31, 2009, Korean church in Colorado Springs, 47 people were screened and educated in cardiovascular, hypertension, pulmonary disease and smoking risks.
Total people screened was 455. This included 43% males, 26% older than 60 years of age, 29% between 30 and 45, and 37% between 46 and 60. 31% had total cholesterol greater than 200; 34% had blood pressure greater than 120/80.
June 2009:
1. June 13 2009, the Filipino community (FACC) in partnership with the Filipino Nurses Association (PNACO), screened 75 people, educated 129 people
2. June 14 2009 Vietnamese Baptist Church in Denver, 45 people were screened and 65 were educated
3. June 21 2009 Nepalese Health Fair, Brighton Temple, 85 people were screened and 104 educated
4. June 20 2009: (Indian/Multi-ethnic) Senior Center, Colorado Springs, 55 screened and 76 educated
6. June 27, Chinese Denver – Chinese Buddhist Temple, Denver, 39 screened and 68 educated.
7. June 28, Hmong, Shaw Heights Middle School, 29 tested and 75 educated
Total people screened was 362, including 45% males, 26% older than 60 years of age; 30% between 30 and 45, and 37% between 46 and 60. 31% had total cholesterol greater than 200; 34% had blood pressure greater than 120/80.
July 2009
1. July 18 2009, the Asian Indian Community at the Hindu Temple, screened 61 people, educated 75 people
2. July 18 2009, Sudanese Community, Denver, 35 Screened and 40 educated
3. July 25,26 2009 Dragon Boat Festiveal on-site screening. Asian-Pacific Community and some Hispanic and African American populations. Total of 150 people were screened and 175 were educated on the risks for cardiovascular, pulmonary and women's health issues.
August 2009
1. August 2 2009, the Nepalese Community, at CAHEP clinic, screened 68 people, educated 79 people
2. August 15 2009, Korean community in Colorado Springs (Memorial Park), 75 Screened and 90 educated
3. August 23, 2009, Asian Indian Community Hindu Temple on-site screening. Total of 72 people were screened and 93 were educated.
September 2009:
1. September 6, 2009, Vietnamese Catholic Church of Colorado, 95 people were screened
2. September 12, 2009, Chinese American Council of Colorado, 75 people were screened
3. September 19, 2009, Tristate Buddhist Temple – Seniors (Chinese, Japanese), 80 people were screened
4. September 20, 2009, Cambodian Temple 68 people were screened
5. September 26, 2009 Lao-Lue Buddhist Temple, 89 people were screened
6. September 27, 2009 Korean Central Presbyterian Church, 65 people were screened
